It's a good question that I feel is governed by circumstance. Family and friends are big factors. Some may simply not be able to let these things go. DA is a step taken by those that can do it, or are willing to suffer the consequences of doing it. Fading is for those not able to make such a step. We must all decide what are path will be according to our own perspective.
Remember too that no matter how long you have faded, they may allways come back to you wanting to know your stance. "Do you believe it's Jehovah's organization?". Eventually you may face it, even if you don't want to.
Personally, I think that eventually I'm going to have to make such a stand. My family is NOT in the Watchtower, but my wifes family is. Some of her family is REALLY in, looking at a life of full time service. I can see that allready we are looked upon as somewhat as unspiritual, most likely because I'm not "reaching out". Eventually the Elders will start to pressure me, what to know what's going on, and I might just let them know. Untill then I'm going to try my best to simply fade, for the sake of my wife and her parents.

Guilty conscience
by lazuli inmy ex-bf is a baptized jw, i've been studying for about ten months already and i'm about to start in the school.
when we were together, we were very intimate, there was never any penetration, but there was pretty much everythings besides that.
not that its anyone's business but this included oral sex and such.

I had a friend who was in the same situation. He was studying and never said anything. Eventually the girl broke down, she got reproved and he was never bothered. It all depends upon who the elders are and what your ex confesses to.
Do you really want to be a Jehovah's Witnesses? If the answer is yes than you really came to one heck of a place to get advice. I think the real solution is to study the Witnesses and see how unchristian the religion is instead of letting them study with you and mold your opinions of matters. -

I could really care less. It someone prefers the homosexual lifestyle I think they are going to pursue it regardless of what the goevernments standards of marriage are, as they allready have. I don't really see how people can really get all worked up about this.

JW's and the Cross
by Honesty inwhy is it so offensive to a jw when a person mentions the cross?
-
drew sagan
I might be wrong, but I think the Watchtowers rejection of the traditional cross comes more from Rutherford(?) trying to make his religion "differant" and finding ways to distance themselves from the more mainstream churches. One only has to look at many of the stances taken on things like Holidays, voting, blood, ect. to see that these are used as things that make the Witnesses "differant" and thus correct.
They get offended mainly because they feel they are correct in their view, and the one speaking of the particular doctrine in question is ignorant of the facts, or simply just ignorant of spiritual things in general. -

I have some extras. Send me over your address and i'll mail them to you. By the way, if anybody has ANY bound volumes they want to get rid of, I'll looking to possibly build up a collection. I still go to meetings as well, so if anybody wants some current literature i can get that for you as well (books, magazines, Brochures, ect). We'll just have to work something out on the shipping.

The 607 issues is worth considering, but to me there is an even more important issue regarding their interpretation:
WHY IS THE TREE IN DANIEL CHAPETER 4 SEEN AS SOMETHING BEYOND NEBUCHADNEZZAR?
They have an explanation for this, but it is not the strongest reasoning. Historically NOBODY EXCEPT FOR A FEW QUACKS have looked to this scritpure as fullfillment of any sort of "Bible Chronology". Instead their interpretation is a creative spasm that has blossemed into a weak interpretation of a very basic Bible account.
I find it amazing that Daniel himself GIVEN REVELATION FROM GOD didn't say the tree stood for anything but Nebuchadnezzar, but somehow the Watchtower says that it can. -
